Wilmslow Running club was formed in 1989 and is based at Wilmslow Rugby Club on King's Road (Pownall Park). The club also organises the
Wilmslow Half-Marathon, the North West's premier half-marathon, which was host to the English Half-Marathon championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and will be again for 2012.
Our ethos is simple: The club aims to offer a supportive and friendly environment for runners keen to improve their performance in road races, cross country and any other events that the club enters at local, regional and national levels. The emphasis is on competition, and our calendar includes a host of team races.
The club’s training programmes will ideally suit those that have a base of running regularly. We train in 7 different groups based on ability (Group 7 runners training at 5 to 5:45 minute mile pace and group 1 at 8 to 9 minute mile pace). Club training sessions take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings, mostly from the Rugby Club, but often at other locations.
If you want to learn more, and to contact Wilmslow Running Club, ring Paul Sanders (01625 533985) or post a comment on this site which our webmaster will reply to. We recommend you contact the club before coming to a training session, to ensure you come to the right place and can be properly welcomed.
Enjoy your running.
